The invention relates to an ophthalmic glass having a composite structure consisting of a main lens body made of polymeric material and of a hardness coating, obtained by a method employing the following operating steps: a) a treatment for activating a surface of a main body is carried out using an argon-based plasma; b) a silicon-rich adhesion layer, having a thickness of the order of 100 ANGSTROM , is deposited using the so-called "P.E.C.V.D" technique; c) an intermediate SiO2 layer is deposited using the single so-called "P.E.C.V.D." technique; d) a dense Si3N4 layer, having a thickness of the order of one micron, is deposited using the combined "P.E.C.V.D." technique together with a controlled radiofrequency polarisation of the lens support. e
