PURPOSE:To provide a process for producing ethylenamine by using a high- performance catalyst having remarkably improved activity and selectivity compared with conventional Ni-based catalyst. CONSTITUTION:Ammonia and/or ethylenamine are made to react with ethanolamine in the presence of hydrogen to obtain an ethylenamine having increased number of ethylene chains compared with that of the ammonia and/or ethylenamine used as the raw material. A catalyst composed of Ni-M-Ir elements (M is at least one rare-earth element selected from scandium, yttrium, praseodymium, neodymium, samarium, europium, gadolinium, terbium, dysprosium, holmium, erbium, thulium, ytterbium and lutecium) is used in the above process. |
