PURPOSE:To produce a zirconia sintered body having high fracture toughness by utilizing microcrack strengthening mechanism. CONSTITUTION:ZrO2 powder of 0.1-2.0mum particle diameter is mixed with 2-10wt.% fine ZrO2 powder of <=0.05mum particle diameter. This powdery mixture is granulated and molded and the resulting molded body is presintered to 96-98% relative density under ordinary pressure and subjected to hot hydrostatic pressing at <=1,480 deg.C to obtain a zirconia sintered body. |
