PURPOSE:To provide a method to bond an aluminum alloy for an automotive structural member with high initial and long-term adhesive strengths. CONSTITUTION:An aluminum alloy for an automotive structural member having a surface oxide film in a thickness of 10-200Angstrom and a surface roughness expressed by Ra of 0.1-2.5mum and Rmax of 0.5-40mum is bonded to another automotive structural member of the same kind as or different from the former member by applying a thermally curable epoxy resin adhesive comprising an epoxy resin, a latent curing agent, and at least one anticorrosive agent selected from the group consisting of a phosphate, a mixture of aluminum orthophosphate with a zinc compd. and/or a mixture of aluminum metaphosphate with a zinc compd., a boric acid compd., and an alkaline earth metal compd. to the former member, placing the latter member of the former, and thermally curing the adhesive. |
