PURPOSE:To enable an image of desired color to be recorded using a single color development process and thereby making the efficient performance of color image recording operation feasible. CONSTITUTION:The subject device consists of a controller 12 which selects a layer where a color is developed based on a color to be recorded and the first lookup table memory 28a to the third lookup table memory 28c which determine the level of thermal application energy to be applied to the selected layer based on information from the controller 12. In addition, the device is equipped with a recording part 18 which processes a polychromatic thermal recording material F thermally in compliance with the level of the determined thermal application energy and light sources 40, 42 which constitute a fixing mechanism which applies a color development inhibitory process to a specific layer, if necessary, so that the specific layer does not have a color developed. |
