RESIN PARTICLES AND PREPARATION THEREOF

PURPOSE:To provide a sharp particle distribution of a resin by microdispersing a specific resin in an aq. medium and eliminating ionic groups present at the terminals thereof. CONSTITUTION:A resin comprising as the main component a polymer having ionic groups incorporated via ester bonds into the terminals of a polymer compd. is dissolved in an ambiphilic solvent. Water is added to the resulting soln. to microdisperse the same to obtain a liq. dispersion having a concn. of 5 to 500 milliequivalents/1,000 g and a particle size of 0.01 to 1.0mum. This liq. dispersion is heated in an alkaline or acidic region to eliminate the ionic groups present at the terminals of the microdispersed resin particles to coalesce the microdispersed resin to thereby obtain resin particles having an average particle size (D) of 0.1 to 100mum and including at least 70wt.% resin particles falling in the range of 0.5 to 2.0 D.
