PURPOSE: To improve the fixing of a cotyloid cup member and the safety of element by forming a plurality of openings extending between the inner and outer surfaces of the cup member and surrounded by hole wall parts thereof so as to serve as a drill guide for surgical opening. CONSTITUTION: A hip joint prosthesis member 11 attached to the femora 12 incorporates an upper ball part 13 engaged with a cotyloid prosthesis member 10 which incorporates a metal cup member 14 having a plastic liner part 15 and having an inner concave surface 16 and an outer convex surface 17. A plurality of slit-like openings 18 are extended between the inner concave surface 16 and the outer convex surface 17 so as to define hole walls 19. Each of the slit-like openings 18 serves as a drill guide for a surgeon, and when metal cup member 14 of the cotyloid prosthesis member 10 is arranged at a predetermined position, the surgeon can simply use a drill through one of the openings 18 so as to form an opening in the bone tissue. When the pegs 25 to 28 are arranged at operating positions, a strong connection can be obtained between the outer surfaces thereof and the openings, or the between openings 18 and the walls 19. |
