Disclosed herein is a process for the production of aminophenoxy-terminated polyethers containing recurring structural units corresponding to the following formula -CH2-CH2-CH2-CH2-O- comprising reacting: a) a polyether component consisting essentially of a polyether diol containing the afore-stated recurring structural units, with b) a nitrobenzene containing hydroxyl-reactive substituent.
