A packing, especially for a book, comprises two corrugated cardboard sheets 1,12, which are intended to be wrapped at least partially around the book 9 in such a way that they protrude past this such that the packing is given a shock-damping capacity. This shock-damping is obtained by virtue of the fact that firstly the last wrapped-round sheet 12 protrudes past the ends of the book 9 enclosed in the first sheet 1 and secondly the edge sections of the inner sheet 1 have cut-outs 7 and projections 8, which form shock-damping and shock- absorbing distances between the longitudinal edges of the inner corrugated cardboard sheet 1 and adjoining parts of the outer corrugated cardboard sheet 12. The packing also incorporates an address label 10 with text 11 which can be read through a window 14 in the second sheet 12. In a method for packing a book 9, for example, this is wrapped in two mutually overlapping and intersecting corrugated cardboard sheets 1,12, which are sealed around the book 9. Both the first and the second corrugated cardboard sheet 1,12 are made to protrude somewhat on either side of the book 9, cut-outs 7 within the edge sections of the first corrugated cardboard sheet 1, as this is wrapped round, being placed at the corners of the book 9 so that shock-absorbing and shock-damping distances are formed between the edge sections of the first corrugated cardboard sheet 1 and adjoining parts of the last corrugated cardboard sheet 12. <IMAGE> |
