摘要 PURPOSE:To enhance the accuracy of grain size measurement by measuring the position of plasma light generated through breakdown, and correcting the fluctuation of the amplitude of acoustic wave generated, and raising the resolving power of grain size measurement. CONSTITUTION:While a laser beam 1 is applied to a measuring cell 11 from a pulse laser 13, a sample is made to flow from a sample feeder 12 toward the measuring cell 11. The position of plasma light generated at the breakdown of granular material is measured by a plasma emission light sensor 9 and the position of the light relative to a beam waist is decided. The range of the beam waist is decided according to the shape of the beam waist and the energy of the light applied to the measuring cell 11. Measurement of the breakdown position is carried out simultaneously with measurement of te amplitude of acoustic wave by an acoustic wave signal sensor 7 and thereby the fluctuation of the amplitude of the acoustic wave due to the position of the breakdown of the granular material is corrected and resolving power needed to calculate the grain size of the granular material is enhanced and the accuracy of grain size measurement is enhanced.
