METHOD AND DEVICE FOR DEFINING FORM FORMAT

PURPOSE:To define the format of a large-sized document by a small-sized picture input device. CONSTITUTION:Partial picture data inputted by a picture input device 10 and stored in a picture storage device 4 is converted into a ruled line and a character code by the picture recognition processing and is stored in a storage device 14. Format definition data is generated from the ruled line and the character code of the partial area stored in the storage device 14 and is stored in a format storage device 15. Format data of table units are generated from the input partial picture and are synthesized to generate the format definition data of the whole of a form. Consequently, the format of the whole of the form is defined in accordance with the partial picture inputted by the small-sized picture input device like a handy scanner.
