PURPOSE:To provide an air bag which can be contained in a given space without any trouble even when an uneven surface part is formed in an air bag lid and can improve the degree of freedom of the design of an instrument panel. CONSTITUTION:An air bag lid 7 has a recessed part 7a formed in a central part in a vertical direction. An air bag 5 is formed approximately in a circular shape from view of planar observation in a state that it is not inflated by means of gas. The air bag is folded and housed in a containing space 10. The parts on both sides of the air bag are folded inside based on the extension lines of the both end parts of an air bag case 3 serving as folds. Thereafter, the air bag is folded from a tip part on the opposite side to the air bag case 3 by a given length. The folding widths of the tip part and the base end part thereof are relatively increased and that of the middle part thereof is decreased. Since the air bag lid 7 side is matched with the shape of the lid when the air bag 5 is arranged in a lamination state in the containing space, the air bag can be contained in a state that upper and lower spaces are usefully utilized. |
