<p>PURPOSE: To obtain a method capable of estimating wear in a short time, at a low cost. CONSTITUTION: Dye beads are formed by ion-implanting neon, nitrogen, titanium, carbon and oxygen as far as a previously selected depth, in the surface peripheral part of a substrate 32 of metal or nonmetal, and forming a process layer 34, which has a color different from a layer which is not processed. When wear progresses further than or equal to the selected depth, original color appears and the degree of wear can be estimated.</p> |
