An optical sensing device (1) is used in which optical signals are converted into electronic form suitable for evaluation by a data processing system. Light beams from a source (2) are simultaneously projected onto the surface and/or translucent interior of the upper and lower interior of the mouth, esp. the translucent denture teeth. Reflected light is evaluated (10). A common deflection device (4) used for both projected and reflected light is a lens denser than air, pref. with a parabolic or elliptical aspherical surface. USE/ADVANTAGE - Copes with complete internal vol. to be measured with lowest possible error including kinematic relationship between upper and lower dentures by simple handling of scanner.
