A process to change the travellers on a ring spinning frame may progress in stages or in one manoevre. When the yarn has been removed, the old traveller is brought to a certain position and removed. The new traveller is fixed in a certain position, and the yarn rethreaded. The travelling changing equipment is mounted on a trolley which runs along the front of the ring frame. It is necessary to locate the equipment alongside each of the series of spinning positions on the frame. This is achieved by locator wheels running along the ring rail to a position where the plate can locate the ring. Controls in the housing then actuate the arm to lift the yarn between the roller pair and the guide, in the gripper to retain a length of yarn. Then the lever in housing is lifted to lift the brake lever on the spindle.
