PURPOSE:To obtain the titled device having a simple structure, a stable printability and reliability by a method wherein a recording head part and a liquid reservoir part are combined into a unitary body and a heating part is located at such a height that liquid in the liquid reservoir part can be supplied by a capillary force to the heating part. CONSTITUTION:The vertical distance L between an orifice at the highest location of a liquid discharge part 509 and a liquid inlet 517 at the terminal of a supply tube 511 is not allowed to exceed 120mm. (when the tube 511 is 0.3-2.0mm. in an inner diameter and the recording liquid has a surface tension of 40-60dyn/cm) in order that the liquid in a liquid reservoir part 502 is supplied smoothly and speedily only by a capillary force to each heating portion of the liquid discharge part 509 and a common liquid chamber part 510. A recording head 501 and the liquid reservoir part 502 are manufactured in a unitary body and are mounted on a carriage 503. Even when this device 500 is turned over or inclined, the liquid does not leak from a discharge orifice 507 or a meniscus will not fail to return or to be restored to the original state.
