Solid electrolyte capacitor (I) comprises a sintered anode, a dielectric oxide layer, a cathode made of semiconducting metal oxide, and an anode and a cathode connection. A current safety mechanism is arranged between the cathode connection and the cathode, the mechanism being made of electrically conducting and non-conducting regions. The safety mechanism (1) comprises conducting adhesive, partially arranged between the cathode and the cathode connection (3). In the prodn. of (I), the safety mechanism (1) is applied on the cathode connection (3) using a dosing appts., the capacitor element is cracked and the anode connection is welded to an anode wire (6), the conducting adhesive, serving as the safety mechanism, is then hardened.
