The (I.F.F.) device includes a radio device (F) comprising transmission part (S), reception part (E), a coder (C) and decoder (D). Also included is an opto-transmitter (LS), e.g. a laser ranging device as used in a weapons system, an opto-receiver (LE), e.g. a laser alarm receiver, a control device (G) and indicator-displays (A1-A5) forming an integral part of the control device (G). The (I.F.F.) decision is arrived at via electronic interrogation signals generated ni the coder (C) with the ranging measurement function and subsequent display (A5) with clearance of the interrogation signal with a trip device (I).
