The independent wheel suspension for vehicles has a wheel carrier with upper and lower linkages, in particular for the driven rear wheels. It has over five individual links hinged between the wheel carrier and the vehicle body. The upper linkage is formed by a rear transverse link as a drop strut and a link which slopes forward as the strut in which the drop strut and the strut in play have an ideal point of intersection over which both are extended so that based on the direction of the vehicle at the wheel end the drop strut lies in front of the link point of tie strut and vice versa at the body end.
