EDGE SEALER FOR MULTI-PLY BUSINESS FORMS

An edge sealer (12) includes a heater anvil (16) having a heater band (22) disposed in a convex configuration and lying opposite a drive belt (34). Multi-ply business forms are conveyed along the edge sealer (12), with the edge of the form extending between the belt (34) and the heater band (22). Application of heat by the heater band (22) to the edge activates the heat-sensitive adhesive to adhesively seal the edges of the plies one to the other without applying heat to the body of the form. A conveyor system transfers forms from one conveyor (60) to another (62) without change of spatial orientation of the forms to pass the unsealed edges of the forms through an additional edge sealing unit (12) downstream of the first edge sealing unit (12).
