<p>A novel optically active alkylthiobenzoic acid derivative represented by general formula (1) wherein R1 represents C¿1? to C18 alkyl, R?2¿ represents C¿1? to C12 alkyl, and m represents 1 or 2. This compound is ferroelectric in itself and as a mixture thereof with other liquid crystal compounds and is excellent as a dopant liquid crystal, thus being usable as an optical switching element and so forth.</p> |
