Thermal transfer material (1) which is adopted for use in transferring an image (3a) of high resistances to were, water and chemicals on a plastic base (11) such as pre-paid card, coupon card and the like. The thermal transfer material (1) comprises a heat-resistant support (2) and a thermal transfer recording layer (3) stacked on the support (2). The thermal transfer recording layer (3) comprises a coloring agent, a hot-melt material comprising a thermoplastic resin having a glass transition point of 50 to 110 DEG C, and a lubricant. There is also proposed a recording material (11) adopted for use in combination with the thermal transfer material (1). The recording material (11) comprises a support (12) and an image-receiving layer (13) formed on the support (12) and comprising a lubricating agent and a thermoplastic resin having a glass transition point of 50 to 110 DEG C. A method of transfer-recording using the thermal transfer material and the recording material is also proposed.
