PURPOSE:To prevent the reflection on the joined surface by using rod lenses of a fixed length ratio. CONSTITUTION:The conditions for minimizing the reflection on the joined surface of a connector using rod lenses where a focusing constant is defined as (g) and the length of the rod lenses as (l) are satisfactory if the respective lens lengths satisfy gl=pi/4, 5pi/4, 9pi/4 and further if the sum of the lengths of the rods lenses to be connected is 1/2 pitch. The perfect optical connection may be accomplished by butting the rod lens 3 of 1/8 pitch length mounted with a fiber 1 and the rod lens 4 of 3/8 pitchs length mounted with a fiber 2 at a joining surface 5. |
