Novel polycarbonate resins having 2 to 400 structural units of bisphenol carbonate on average and vinylbenzoic acid terminal groups bonded to the bisphenol residues have a high stability and are produced by interfacial polymerization or solution polymerization, using vinylbenzoic acid as a molecular weight modifier.
