PURPOSE:To remove the developer in the developing unit by repeating the process of blowing air into the developing unit, sucking the developer while rotating a developing roller intermittently, and also sucking the developer while reversing the developing roller after every other turn. CONSTITUTION:The developing unit which develops an electrostatic latent image by rotating a sleeve incorporating a magnet, and holding magnetic toner on the sleeve surface and bringing it into contact with a photosensitive drum is stored in a holding member 12, and the unit is rotated to fall toner out of the unit through its opening, thereby collecting the toner in a bag 20. The unit is further rotated and toner is blown with air from an air nozzle 24, thereby discharging it from a duct 21. A suction nozzle 25 is put closer to the rotating sleeve to remove toner sticking on the sleeve surface suctionally. The sleeve is rotated intermittently and reversed repeatedly to remove the toner in the developing unit completely. |
