This cooling element, particularly for oxygen refinery jets which are mounted on the bottom and/or on the wall of the steelworks furnace, in particular of the oxygen converter, consists of at least one single-piece fixed cooling box (1) containing a mixture of a heat-developing cooling substance and a fire resistant binding agent which is built into the steelworks furnace and in it there is a refinery jet (5) where each part of the fixed cooling block (1) contains 50 to 90% by weight of aliphatic hydrocarbons from C17H36 to C60H122 and 10 to 50% by weight of the fire-resistant binder, or 50 to 95% by weight of polyvinyl alcohol and 5 to 50% by weight of the fire-resistant binder, or 60 to 95% by weight of ferrous oxide or ferrous-ferric oxide and 5 to 40% by weight of the fire-resistant binder.<IMAGE>
