The invention concerns a turnable propeller device intended for a ship. The drive power from the horizontal drive shaft of the propeller device to the propeller shaft and to the propeller is passed by the intermediate of an upper angular gearbox , a vertical shaft , and a lower angular gearbox . The propeller device is additionally turnable around a vertical shaft for the purpose of steering the vessel. According to the invention, the propeller device is provided with a flywheel acting as energy storage and connected to the propeller device by the intermediate of clutches operating as glide and uncoupling clutches. The clutches are controlled to operate so that, in a desired situation, rotation energy can be stored in the flywheel and, when the circumstances so require, the energy can be released from the flywheel so as to rotate the propeller . |
