A method for recovering volatile, organic compounds from manure, by: i) acidifying and concentrating the manure; ii) condensing the formed vapor; and iii) separating the volatile, organic compounds from the condensate. Preferably the volatile, organic compounds are removed from the condensate by liquid extraction, crystallization, distillation and/or ion exchange.
