L'invention concerne la nouvelle 1-(3-chlorophényl)-4-hydroyméthyl-7,8-diméthoxy-5H-2,3-benzodiazépine de formule (voir figure) et ses sels d'addition d'acide acceptables du point de vue pharmaceutique, ainsi qu'un procédé pour préparer ces composés . Les composés selon l'invention possèdent d'interessants effets anxiolytique, antiagressif et/ou antidépresseur et on en même temps des valeurs favorables de toxicité aigue, si bien qu'ils peuvent être utilés avec profit en thérapie.
