A carbostyril derivative represented by general formula (I), useful as a platelet agglutination inhibitor, wherein A represents lower alkylene; R represents -NR<1>R<2>, wherein R<1> represents lower alkyl substituted with lower alkoxycarbonyl and R<2> represents hydrogen, cycloalkyl-substituted lower alkyl, etc.; W represents oxygen or sulfur; and a carbon-to-carbon bond between the positions 3 and 4 of the carbostyril skeleton represents either a single or a double bond.
