A hydrophilic polyurethane foam for use in first aid dressings which comprises residues from an aromatic isocyanate prepolymer and an aliphatic isocyanate prepolymer and in which at least one of said prepolymers contains residues from polyether polyol. A process for the formation of the hydrophilic polyurethane and absorptive devices of hydrophilic polyurethane foam such as wound dressings and sanitary devices.
