PURPOSE:To improve the reliability and efficiency of a disk system using plural disks as auxiliary storage devices without increasing the number of disks. CONSTITUTION:Plural sectors with the same number in respective disks are collected as a block and one sector in each group is set up as a parity sector(PS). The data of each PS are managed as an exclusive OR of each bit in a data sector(DS) in the block. If the reading of a certain DS is abnormal, the exclusive OR values of data in all the sectors of the block are regarded as the data of the DS, and when the writing of a certain DS is abnormal, an exclusive OR among the data of the DS, the data of the PS in the block and write data is regarded as the data of the PS in the block. |
