The winch with levers comprises gripping devices which are housed in a body and seize, each in turn, a cable and are each made up of a lower clamping jaw with vertical lateral cheeks situated between the balance arms of an upper clamping jaw which is mounted between the vertical cheeks of the lower clamping jaw and forms, together with the latter, a passageway for a cable. Each balance arm 16 includes a journal 17 of cylindrical shape, housed in a cylindrical hole 15 in the vertical lateral cheek 14 and a load element 18, made up of a cylindrical pin which connects the balance arms 16 and the clamping jaw 11, is housed in the cylindrical holes in the cheek 14. Application to winches with gripping of a lifting cable and equipped with means for replacing the grippers in the event of wear. <IMAGE>
