OPTICAL AMPLIFIER

摘要

PURPOSE:To provide an optical amplifier which compensates a low quantum effect and ensure a practical gain characteristic. CONSTITUTION:There is provided an optical amplifier which includes infrared optical fibers 5 each containing Pr<3-> as activated ions in cores. The optical amplifier is employed in a 1.3mum band and is composed of an infrared optical fiber 5 with one end space 7 thereof being provided with a light reflecting function and includes an optical coupler 4 connected with the other end of the infrared optical fibers for coupling pumping light and signal light, and further includes an optical circulator 3 connected with a signal light port of the optical coupler 4.
