Fastening device which cannot be dismantled without the aid of special tooling, applied particularly to the production of protecting devices for gas cylinders. The male part 1, intended to be fixed to the threaded neck of the female part 10 is a self-clamping collar in the form of a split ring 2 equipped with an internal screw thread 8. The ends of the ring 2 form a slit 3 and terminate in tongues 4 and 5 which overlap and which are provided with reciprocal limit stops 4a and 4b forming a hook preventing the elastic limit of the ring from being exceeded when a load is exerted in order to widen it. The ends of the ring exhibit bearing surfaces 6, the separation of which is intended to form a gap 7 used to insert a tool for widening the collar. Device preventing opening of the self-tightening ring beyond the elastic limit of the material from which it is made, so that it retains the facility of returning to its initial shape. <IMAGE>
