The level has a liquid-tight hollow chamber bounded by a base section and a transparent cover part and containing a liquid and a movable measurement element (26). The chamber has a concave bulge associated with the measurement element in the surface of the cover or base facing the measurement element and measurement markets (28) on the other part. At least one of the individual parts of the level consists of a phosphorescent substance or contains a phosphorescent substance which indicates the relative position of the measurement element w.r.t. the measurement markers. ADVANTAGE - Enables simple reading and evaluation even in dark surrounds.
