The recovery and prepn. of a zoo-technical agent for use in sheep rearing comprises recovering a natural-biological active ingredient mixt. of aromas specific to the species of animal (i.e. pheromones) by extractively washing out a substrate contg. the pheromones from hair cut from animals of the same sex arranged in the naturally growing direction of the fibres, cleaning the soln. and then sepn. the solvent. The recovery of the substrate contg. the pheromones in its effective condition is carried out by recovering the hair at a characteristic period specific to the species and race. This characteristic period is determined by max values of physiological-biochemical criteria and max. parameter of sexual behaviour of the animals within this period. USE/ADVANTAGE - The pheromones are recovered from living animals and can be made available in their natural composition and in natural amts. at any point in the year, thus enabling the reproduction to be intensified and independent of season after the first insemination and lambing. As the origin of the pheromones is natural and as they are used in natural quantities there is no toxic risk to the animals nor to the workers, nor to those who will consume the animal prods., nor to the environment.
