A transistor (2) has a base and collector and connected to the base of a second transistor (3). The different emitter voltage of the second transistor is produced by potential divider resistors (5,6) and a voltage source (4'). The magnitude and direction of the resultant emitter voltage determines the temp. characteristic of the two collector currents (i1,i2). Alternatively, different emitter areas equalise the currents resulting from the different base voltages. A third transistor may be provided, the emitter of which is connected to the output of a dc converter
