摘要 In the automatic shape analysis of individual carcasses (2) it may be necessary to localize certain areas of the meat surface, such as certain anatomical areas. For this purpose the meat is illuminated by a source of light (4), and a picture of the meat surface is recorded by means of a video camera (3). The picture is stored and data processed in a computer (6), after which the computer transmits a signal that depends upon the localization, to be used in the subsequent treatment of the carcass, for example for controlling an automatic cutting machine. The method is characterised by data processing of the stored picture including the use of a directional filtration method which highlights a certain direction in the picture. In this way the said area of the meat surface is located with increased certainty. This can be performed by means of a matrix applied along the said direction. <IMAGE>
