A method of testing the surfaces of a number of small objects (2) of essentially the same shape involves moving the objects beneath a test device using a rotatable plate (1). After the object's upper surfaces have been tested they are transferred from the surface of the rotatable plate to the underside of a further rotatable plate (6). The objects are held on the second plate during testing of their under surfaces. When these have been tested the objects are removed from the plate an stored according to the test results. USE/ADVANTAGE - Quality control testing surfaces and shapes of number of small objects of wide range of characteristics and shapes without damaging or fouling them whilst they are being sent through the test device.
