PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographic sensitive body having high sensitivity, low residual potential and superior durability and undergoing no change in the characteristics by forming a photosensitive layer cong. a specified azo pigment on an electrically conductive support. CONSTITUTION:An azo pigment represented by the formula (where W is H, lower alkoxy, lower alkyl, cyano, halogen or trifluoromethyl, n is an integer of 1-5, in case of n>=2, groups W may be different from each other, R is H, lower alkyl, halogen, nitryl, and Cp is a residue of coupler) is used as a photoconductive substance in the photosensitive layer of an electrophotographic sensitive body. When only the superior carrier generating capacity of the azo pigment is utilized, the azo pigment is used as a carrier generating substance in a separated function type electrophotographic sensitive body in which the generation and transfer of carriers are carried out with separate substances the resulting sensitive body has superior electrophotographic characteristics such as high charge retentivity, high sensitivity and low residual potential as well as superior physical properties. It is hardly deteriorated by fatigue even after repeated use, undergoes no change in the characteristics by heat or light and can show stable characteristics. |
