The sheath (5) which is to, partially, cover the sensor (6,7,27) is disposed, initially, in a horizontal disposition. Then the sensors are introduced into the sheath with the pH sensor (6) in the top position and the blood gas sensors (7,27) below it. The glue (17), which allows diffusion of gas molecules in its hardened state is introduced into the sheath. Preferably the glue is a silicon glue. This has elastic properties in its hardened state, allowing the sensors to move to a limited extent for temperature changes. Consequently the probe may be sterilised at minus 78 degrees Celsius using cryogamma sterilisation.
