PURPOSE:To reduce the leakage of current and eliminate errors in detection by a method wherein insulated intermediate conductors are provided between the anode and cathode of an ionization chamber for detecting neutron and between the central and outside conductors of a guide cable and the whole of them is covered with a corrosion-resisting material. CONSTITUTION:Intermediate conductors 2'' are provided between the anode 3 and the cathod 4 of the ionization chamber 12 for detecting neutron, located in the detector, and are insulated mutually by inorganic insulators 2 and 22 such as alumina. And, intermediate conductors 2' are provided between the central conductor 14 and the outside conductor 13 of a guide cable 11 for guiding a signal of the ionization chamber 12 and are insulated mutually by inorganic insulators 1 and 1'. Moreover, the outside of the outside conductor 8 of the chamber 12 and of the outside conductor 13 of the guide cable 11 is covered with a covering material 9 formed of Ni-Cr-Fe-Mo alloy, Cr-Al-Fe alloy or the like. In this way, a detector for the neutron in a furnace which is used at high temperature, excellent in dielectric strength and has high corrosion-resisting property can be obtained with ease.
