PURPOSE: To prepare a simple compact chair with an up-to-date design by incorporating a mechanism to combine the weight of a seated person with a reaction force into a structure of a seat part. CONSTITUTION: The lower end of a frame 8 lifts the rear part of a seat part 6 because of the largest rear reclining of the back rest 4 of a chair, so that the seat part 6 swings about the front side axis 12. A thrust mechanism slides in a tubular element 10 by the swing of the frame 8 about the axis A to compress a coiled spring 40. The back rest 4 of the chair applies a force to the back of a seated person. This force depends on the load of the spring 40 and the weight of the seated person. Thus, the swinging rigidity of the back rest 4 is adapted automatically to the requirement of the seated person. The whole mechanism to connect the seat part 6 to the back rest 4 is put in the tubular element 10. Thus, the chair is very compact and overlaid on another chair of the same kind. |
