METHOD FOR DETECTING FORM OF ROLLED STOCK

PURPOSE:To enable fluctuation to be eliminated by providing no sensor in some portions of each disk which is divided at every predetermined angle, and detecting the angle of rotation of a form detecting roller, and detecting asensor output at the angle of each part where no sensor is disposed. CONSTITUTION:A form detection roller 5 comprising a plurality of disks 3 stacked in the direction of its axis and each having sensors 2 arranged at every predetermined angle in the direction of rotation is brought into contact with rolled stock 1 and is rotated to detect the form of the rolled stock 1 from signals proportional to radial loads from the sensors 2. Some portions of each disk 3 divided at every predetermined angle have no sensor 2 disposed therein and the angle of rotation of the form detecting roller 5 is detected and sensor output values at the angles of the portions where no sensor 2 is diposed and values detected by the sensor 2 are corrected in such a way that the fluctuation computed is eliminated. The sensitivity of the sensor 2 can thus be enhanced so that the accuracy of detecting the form when the speed of rolling is low can be enhanced.
