PURPOSE:To obtain a substrate material excellent in machinability which is properly worn by grinding a crystallized glass into powder and sintering by a hot press method. CONSTITUTION:The objective substrate material is obtd. by grinding a crystallized glass into powder and sintering the powder by a hot press method. When a magnetic head is manufactured from this substrate material, uneven wearing of the head can be prevented compared to a conventional magnetic head using a conventional crystallized glass substrate. For a conventional head, there is a problem that only a soft magnetic thin film comprising a Sendust alloy or the like is first worn. Thereby, the obtd. head has sufficient characteristics of soft magnetic thin films made of alloys. Moreover, the obtd. substrate has also characteristics of crystallized glass so that it gives excellent wearing resistance and longer life to the magnetic head compared to a magnetic head using a ceramic substrate. |
