<p>The invention relates to a safety means making it possible, as desired, during use, to block the safety rope or to make it slide easily or to brake it in a controlled manner simply by turning over the said means. It consists of a small plate (1) having a rectilinear aperture (7) which receives, around the snap hook (5) a loop of the safety rope (4) which goes towards the climber A, and a second aperture (6) in the shape of a L which receives the safety snap hook (11) connected to the harness (10) of the static climber B, which shape ensures holding of the small plate in this position and which makes it possible to turn the said plate (1) over in the direction of the arrow F, during use.
