PURPOSE:To provide the subject new compound useful as a fungicide for agricultural and horticultural use. CONSTITUTION:The compound of formula [R is propyl or isopropyl; n is 8-14; R2 is CH2(OH)CH(OH)-] having the following physical and chemical properties. Appearance, white powder; melting point, 215-220 deg.C; solubility, easily soluble in dimethyl sulfoxide, methanol, ethanol, n-propanol and n-butanol, scarcely soluble in water, acetone and chloroform and insoluble in benzene and hexane; mass-spectrum, FAB-MS(M+H) m/z 566, 580, 594, 608, 622, 636, 650. The compound of formula can be produced by culturing a microbial strain belonging to Streptoverticillium (FERM P-12010) preferably by submerged tank culture at 26-30 deg.C. |
