Material for the surface treatment of dental parts, especially polishing, grinding and blasting materials comprise quartz composed of crystalline silicon dioxide which has turned out to constitute a health hazard. The invention is therefore directed to the creation of a material which does not have these hazardous properties. In the material according to the invention, quartz is replaced with a quartz-free magmatic stone, especially nepheline syenite. Surprisingly, the magmatic rock in powdered form attains nearly the same treatment results as conventional materials vention is particularly suitable for polishing and blasting plastic material.
