A bag-manufacturing machine comprises a freely rotatable drum 7, a drive belt 9 intended for rotation of the drum 7, and a number of transversely placed welding jaws 11, which, upon rotation of the drum 7, are placed against and are driven together with the web 1 to form weld lines therein. The welding jaws 11 are arranged such that they are freely movable in relation to the drum 7 and are controlled by a control device 12 which is arranged firstly to hold each welding jaw 11 in a stand-by position disengaged from the web 1 and secondly to bring each welding jaw 11 successively into engagement with the web 1. In a method for achieving weld lines on the web 1 in such a bag machine, the welding jaws 11 are first held in the stand-by position disengaged from the web 1 and are then brought into engagement with the web 1 and driven around the drum 7. <IMAGE> |
